A very warm welcome to the Sherborne u3a (Su3a) website, I hope you will get a flavour of who we are and what we do via the following pages.
Our branch began in September 2000 with 175 members and today this number has grown to nearly 800. A link to the development from the early days by Peter Meech, one of our members, can be found at the foot of this page.
Our specialist interest groups have now grown to over 60 and these can be explored on the Groups page. These groups are the lifeblood of our organisation and it is through the selfless dedication of all the group leaders that this is the case.
We have several fixed events throughout the year including the Summer Showcase with exhibitions and displays put on by the groups to which all members and members of the public are invited. We have an annual quiz and our enrolment day is early in September. Our regular monthly coffee morning is held on the third Wednesday of every month from 10:15 – 11:45 at the Cheap Street Church Hall in Sherborne. Prospective new members may like to come along as there is always someone on hand with more information and to talk about the process involved with joining. Further events are added throughout the year and will appear on the Events page.
On the News page you will find the previous three editions of the Newsletter these will tell you about what has taken place over the last year. Newsletters are distributed electronically with printed copies sent to those without an email address. We also have a monthly Newsflash but we regret we cannot offer a printed copy so we ask those with email addresses to share information with any of their friends who are without one.
We have a committee that meets regularly and the important documents that underpin the running of our branch can be found in Su3a Documents.
If you would like any further information on anything concerning our branch, please see our Contacts page as we will be pleased to hear from you.
With my very best wishes
Sue Thomas-Peter (Chairwoman & Group Liaise )
