Hiking Groups Overview

We have several groups for hikers from which to choose. Please enquire for joining availability as some may be full and have a waiting list.

Photos kindly donated by the photographers from each group with the permission of the group.

Most groups meet monthly at various locations. It's usually a distance of 7 - 12 miles (11 - 19 Km).

Members of each group may be required to organise and lead walks - usually once per year. Help and advice with organising a walk is available from the group leaders and we do have a good library of walk books available.

Hiking 1 (The Trailblazers), led by Nick.

Meets once per month every 4th Thursday.

Hiking 2 (The Hikers Circle), led by Andrew.

Hikes are normally between 8 and 12 miles in length, include all types of terrain and usually commence around 10:00am.  Hike locations are usually within a 30 mile radius of Sherborne, often much less and car sharing is the norm.  Being equipped with proper hiking clothing and gear is essential.  Members are required in turn to plan, recce and lead a hike (circa once every 13 months or so).

F4T Hiking (The Trekker Troop), led by Catherine. we meet monthly, 1st and 3rd Tuesdays.

We are a friendly group running 2 walks a month. These two longer walks are usually between 8 and 10 miles.

As we aim for 24 walks a year every member of the group either leads or helps lead at least two walks a year. If this is something new to you then there are plenty of members who are willing to pair up to plan, recce and lead a walk with you.
